The Search

A Five Year Search

What began in 2021 as a personal exploration into the architecture of truth evolved into a rigorous, documented diagnostic of an AI system. David Stansberry III documented the decreasing distance between raw reality and its artificially intelligent future, capturing the "calibration gap" where human perception falters and AI systems begin to lose one another. This search was never just about data; it was about the integrity of the witness in an age of synthesized evidence. The journey led from analog field notes to the testing of large-scale language models, mapping the precise point where truth becomes a variable rather than a constant.

"Buy the ticket, take the ride."

For five years I bought the ticket. I took the ride through family fractures, institutional indifference, and the soft machinery of modern systems that reward performance over precision. What began as scattered attempts to document what felt off slowly hardened into something more deliberate — a narrowing of scope, a sharpening of method, and a refusal to look away when the record started pushing back.

The ride didn’t end when the earlier projects did. It simply changed vehicles. The same instinct that once chased clarity through trauma and industry eventually turned toward the tools we now use to make sense of everything else. That’s when the search stopped being only about the world and became a direct confrontation with the systems built to pursue truth.
